MIZEN is a project to build a luxury brand in which craftsmen who are responsible for traditional Japanese techniques play a leading role, based on the philosophy that "luxury is the feeling of connection between people."
By designing traditional Japanese techniques to suit modern lifestyles and proposing them not only to Japan but also to the world, we aim to improve the status of craftsmen with advanced skills and contribute to the sustainability of the industry. We aim to raise it.
In March 2023, MIZEN will produce a collaboration between Koginzashi, one of Aomori's traditional crafts, and ARLNATA, a former designer of "HERMÈS" who makes clothes from cloth such as high-end pongee.
We will present clothes tailored using the original pattern created for the project, MIZEN BLUE "Katsu" ~ SHO ~ "Yabane".

Koginzashi (Hirosaki Kogin Institute) ``Yabane''
Mr. Sadaharu Narita, President of the Hirosaki Kogin Institute, talks about the original Koginzashi pattern
From the meaning of this theme "win" = "hit the target",
Surrounded by traditional arrow feather patterns, feather patterns that are not usually used in our company
I stabbed it with a kogin. There are many skipped stitches on the back side,
It is difficult to make out the first one with the back pattern,
Both the front and back have been carefully finished to make them beautiful.
Koginzashi
Koginzashi Aomori Prefecture
During the Edo period, Tsugaru farmers, who were only allowed to wear hemp kimonos, tried to make the harsh and long winter as comfortable as possible.
In order to make it through, he began to apply sashiko to linen cloth with cotton thread for moisturizing and reinforcement, and eventually 'Tsugaru Koginzashi' was born. It was developed mainly in Hirosaki by counting the odd numbers of 1, 3, 5, 7, etc. against the vertical weave.
